Pre-Budget expectation in fire and safety industry by Rohit Harjani, Country Manager Indian Sub-continent, Hochiki.

This year's budget is the most awaited announcement since the introduction of the Goods and Services Tax (GST). While mega-infrastructure projects and urbanization schemes are expected to receive substantial financial support in the budget, what is equally important is the need to have a robust fire safety network in place to ensure protection of life and property. With growing urbanization, the need for fire safety equipment is only going to increase further. Reforms like GST and RERA are positive for the growth of fire and security industry and the government’s strong focus on this industry will allow its unstinted growth. We hope there is an increase in fund allocation which will help fast track adoption of fire safety equipment in all tier cities to help the country develop a fire-safety culture and achieve the goal of zero fire accidents.

Moreover, there should be announcement of incentive to use quality approved product for 500,000+ buildings where no fire detection and escape route systems are installed.
